Water Source Heat Pump (WSHP)
A Water Source Heat Pump (WSHP) is a mechanical reverse cycle device that is used to transfer heat from one medium to another. A Water Source Heat Pump (WSHP) extracts heat from water when in the heating mode and rejects heat to the water when in cooling mode.
The water supply commonly is a recirculating closed loop. A boiler hot water system injects heat to the heat pump circulating water loop in heating mode. Also heat pump circulating water rejects heat in a cooling tower in cooling mode.
Main Components
- Supply Blower Section
- Direct Expansion Coil in Cooling Mode also Air-Cooled Condenser in Heating mode
- Water to Water Heat Exchanger (acts as a condenser in Cooling Mode and evaporator in Heating Mode)
- Four-Way Solenoid valve
- Filter Section
- Isolating Two Way Control Valve
Other Components of the System:
- Heating Boiler(s)
- Heating water circulating Water
- Heat Pump Loop Water Circulating Pump
- Plate Heat Exchanger (Alternatively a three-way heat injection motorized valve)
- Cooling Tower
- Microprocessor Control Board to connect with Building Automation System (BAS)
- BACnet Capability to communicate with Building Automation System
Special Consideration When Installing A Rooftop Unit:
- Ducted Return Air versus Return Plenum
- Smoke Detector on Supply and or Return Duct
- Supply Fan Variable Frequency Drive (VFD)
- Supply Duct Pressure Static Pressure Sensor for variable Air Volume (VAV) Air Distribution Systems
In Comfort Care , we have experienced technicians and installers for installation, start-up and commissioning of Water Source Heat Pump Systems. We have experienced crews for performing preventive maintenance per the manufacturers’ instructions. Our Crews are very well trained and experienced with the following brands:
